RICS Press Release - Things To Consider When Buying A New Home

Posted on Monday, June 23, 2014

There is a new interesting article published on the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) website this month.

They are asking you to think about the 5 main elements a new home should be when considering a house purchase. Some of these elements can be looked at by requesting either a HomeBuyer or Building Survey from your local Chartered Surveying firm (please see where we cover on our offices page: http://www.pinnaclesurveyors.co.uk/our-offices.html.

The main elements they ask you to consider are as follows:

1. Sound (is the property in danger of falling down or will it require major repair).

2. Safe (does it comply with normal health and safety checks for both residents and visitors?)

3. Comfortable (think about the immediate environment and neighbourhood)

4. Affordable (not just the cost of the property but what about the bills like utilities, council tax and insurance?)

5. Investiable (are you getting good value for your money? Remember the difference between freehold properties and leasehold properties).
