Posted on Friday, October 31, 2014

Steven Jones, AssocRICS has just joined Pinnacle Surveyors recently and we wanted to find out a little bit more about him!

Name:  Steven Jones

Current Qualifications: BSc Building Surveying, AssocRICS Registered Valuer

Are you still currently in training towards a qualification?

Yes, I am currently undertaking my APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) under the Professional Experience Route to become an MRICS Surveyor, hopefully by October 2015 (Final Interview!).

What area of the UK are you covering?

The North East

What made you first interested in becoming a surveyor?

I wanted to be a joiner when I first left school but I didn’t get accepted into the council at interview so I looked at a few college courses that were available at Newcastle College. One in particular caught my eye which at the time was called AVCE Construction and the Built Environment. This consisted of building surveying, land surveying, quantity surveying, building engineering, civil engineering and architecture. After this 2 year course, I went to Northumbria University to do a full time degree in Building Surveying and then onto my first place of employment.

What attracted you to working with Pinnacle Surveyors?

I had been working at an established estate agent for 8 years after university and I had thought I would have progressed to becoming a chartered surveyor a lot sooner, however, my previous employer was not interested in helping me to progress my career. I took the decision to look for a company who would help me progress and gain my full potential in surveying and Pinnacle Surveyors answered my email for possible employment. I am now working for Pinnacle as a surveyor in my own area, although not fully chartered yet, but a massive jump in the right direction. It is a great company, with great staff!

Do you have any future plans?

I plan to become fully chartered and be the first younger surveyor in Pinnacle’s ranks who they know they can count on and to help have the North East area covered. I also hope to help other trainee’s in their own quest to become chartered as I have now been through the process myself, initially as an AssocRICS candidate and now as an APC candidate.

What about other activities, outside of work?

I enjoy going to the gym and keeping fit but also like my weekends whether that is going out and socialising or just lounging around. I love watching football and boxing. In the future I hope to buy some investment properties at auction ready for my retirement (a long way off yet), and hopefully as I am a property professional I’ll find some gems among the rough!

Thank you Steven, and welcome to Pinnacle Surveyors!
