Verity Lowe

Current Qualifications:

I am originally from Bath in Somerset, which is where I grew up and went to school. After my A-Levels, I enrolled at York University to study a degree in Philosophy for three years. I then took a post-University gap year and travelled across Asia and Australia for 6 months. Upon returning to the UK I then decided to study a Masters in Real Estate Management at UWE where I could achieve a RICS accredited degree and then train in Residential Surveying.

Are you still involved in completing education currently? Can you tell us more about this?

My Masters was completed in September 2014. The degree was finalised with the completion of my dissertation which studied the role of Environmental Management Systems in Real Estate companies. Since being employed with Pinnacle Surveyors, I have registered for the RICS Associate qualification which should take 9-12 months to achieve. This qualification consists of completing the necessary training and development needed for Residential Survey and Valuation (my chosen Pathway.) There are various technical and mandatory competencies which need to be completed in order to pass. A record of my work experience will ensure that these competencies are covered and ensure qualification. The long term goal is to bridge my AssocRICS qualification to an MRICS qualification.

What area of the UK are you/will you be covering?

I am currently living in South West London and am therefore shadowing the London surveyors at present.

What made you first look at becoming a surveyor?

Despite my bachelors degree being in Philosophy I decided to pursue a career in surveying due to the dynamic nature of the work. The day in the life of a surveyor varies from one day to the next. This means that the work is never dull nor predictable which is a definite plus when considering this will be my career for the next 50 or so years!

What attracted you to working with Pinnacle Surveyors?

Pinnacle Surveyors have ensured that I begin to qualify as a Surveyor for which I am truly grateful. The company is always happy to help with any queries and questions I have (which are quite a few due to my training!). As an independent company there truly is a sense of community and camaraderie which is often lost in larger corporate companies.

Do you have any future plans?

My current priority is to become a Chartered Surveyor and gain the necessary experience and training which will lead to me being a successful surveyor for the company.

What do you do outside of work?

Along with my recent employment with Pinnacle Surveyors, I have moved to Balham in London. I am therefore currently using my spare time to explore all the city has to offer and get to know the areas which will ultimately be the areas I will work in. I also enjoy keeping fit, which is very easy due to all the lovely commons London has to offer as great running territory!

Thank you Verity, we look forward to seeing you qualify as a surveyor in the future!
